Is Algone safe for my Fish?
Yes, Algone is completely safe, even for use in aquariums with the most sensitive species including invertebrates. Algone is safe for fresh and saltwater fish, snails, turtles, and crustaceans.

Yes, Algone can be used in saltwater, as well as reef and brackish tanks. Algone is non-toxic and chemical-free, making it a great choice for sensitive aquatic eco-systems. It performs with the same efficiency as it in freshwater aquariums.

How to use Algone?
Algone is placed directly into the filtration system. The Algone Pouch will fit any filter type or sump.

Does Algone remove medication?
No, Algone does not remove any medication and can therefore remain in the filter while treating the aquarium for other problems.
Can Algone be used with Carbon?
Algone can be used in combination with all commonly available aquarium additives. The effectiveness of Algone will not be affected.
How much Nitrate will Algone remove?
Nitrates will be lowered to almost undetectable levels. The time frame depends on several conditions. Nitrate is the result of pollutants in the aquarium. An aquarium with relatively low pollution can be treated in as little as 5 days. A heavily polluted tank can require several weeks to treat. In either case it is extremely helpful to limit the amount of waste entering the tank. The main cause of excessive waste is overfeeding. We therefore strongly recommend feeding as little as once every other day while recovering a failing tank with Algone.
Will my algae eater starve?
Algae are a natural part of a balanced and well maintained aquarium. A balanced tank will always produce some algae but never enough to take over or become a nuissance. Keeping nitrates low is key to controlling algae but minimal growth will always be present, providing enough food for any algae eaters in the tank.
Will Algone harm my plants?
Nitrate forms constantly and is available to the plants even at undetectable levels. Replace Algone less frequently if older leaves show a slight yellowish/red discoloration (nitrogen deficiency). No, Algone can not be recharged. Simply discard any used product and replace with fresh Algone Pouches.
