Algone & the Planted Aquarium |
|
|
Algone is safe for planted aquariums. Algone does not contain any chemicals.
Algone will remove excess nutrients, especially nitrates, that the plants are unable to utilize.
Plants can take on nitrogen more easily under anoxic (oxygen free areas) conditions via their root system. Next to the capacity of plants to store nutrients, they also out-compete algae for essential nutrients.
Algone will promote plant growth by enhancing the dissolved oxygen content and in providing a readily available carbon source. Algone will have no effect on other vital nutrients needed by plants, such as zinc, magnesium, iron, potassium, etc.
Low to undetectable nitrate levels will in consequence rarely lead to a nitrogen deficiency for the plants. The formation of nitrogen is constant, and therefore is also sufficient for floating plants.
For the overall quality and health of the aquatic environment as well as healthy thriving plants, nitrogen, among others, should not exceed certain levels in order to avoid many undesirable and common problems.
Algone controls excessive nutrients and will simplify the maintenance of the aquarium, often avoiding painstaking steps and corrective measures.
