I'd done everything right with my 72 gallon saltwater tank but couldn't rid it of the huge brown algae blooms...used only R/O water and did regular water changes, used high volume protein skimmer, kept a light fish load, never overfed and kept tank lighting to minimal hours. Water tests were in normal ranges and my dealer was unable to offer any effective advice. I was at wits end when I turned to the internet and searched for info on algae control....I quickly found the Algone site but was wary of the claims and of the endorsements. After calling Algone for more info, I ordered a supply. I did a water change, placed two bags in the sump and waited...in less than 2 weeks the algae was greatly diminished. In my opinion, especially in marine tanks, hospital tanks are used for any new fish that might bring a disease into the aquarium. "...I just wanted to update you on my progress. I received my Algone just 2 days after ordering and was very eager to plop it in my tanks... but, I waited until I had enough time to REALLY clean both tanks, especially my gross 20 gallon, before tossing it in. (I wanted to give it a fair shot at working.) I don't know if you remember my first email letter, but I'll refresh your memory: my name is Debbie and I have 2 tanks. My 20 gal is a year old and has a bad algae problem. My 75 gal is brand new.. up for only almost 4 weeks. My major concern was the algae growth. I had to scrape the glass daily to even see the fish (in the 20 gal)... not to mention the nice expensive coral pieces that are brown. This past Saturday, I spent 4 hours cleaning everything in the 20 gal and did a 20% water change... then placed the Algone bag in the filter. The 75 gal wasn't that bad being that it has only been up for 4 weeks... so I cleaned the glass and the coral pieces and placed 2 Algone bags in the filter system. The 75 gal is still cycling and has zero ammonia and nitrite of about 4! But, I wasn't freaking out... after all, it's cycling. Well, (this is the good part!!!!) today is Tuesday and I still have NO ALGAE GROWTH in either tank. I cannot believe my eyes! When I tell you my 20 gal had a BAD algae problem, I mean it... it was gross... I would clean the tank really well every Saturday and scrape the glass everyday (almost everyday... I would have days of discouragement... it seemed useless!) and I would wake up the next morning and see algae starting already! I'm not kidding! It was out of control! It is Tuesday... 3 days since placing Algone in the tank... and I have no algae! I don't want to get too excited so soon, but I know my tank... it has NEVER looked this bright, crisp, and sparkling for so many days without cleaning it every day! I swear I haven't touched it since Saturday! (Who am I trying to convince here... Ha!Ha!) I am amazed. I love your product! Oh, I almost forgot... my 75 gal (no algae growth there either) that had a nitrite level of 4 on Saturday... the level is already down to 0.5! Now, I know it may be partly due to the natural growth of the necessary nitrifying bacteria... but I doubt if it would have dropped this much so rapidly without the Algone! Have I mentioned how excited I am? Ha!Ha! May I ask one question? Since the algae growth is ceased, should I change the bags only monthly... or is it too soon. When should I start the maintenance part of the Algone system? I will keep you updated on my progress. But, so far Algone get my highest marks! I can actually enjoy my fish instead of peering through the algae to see them! I've always wanted beautiful marine aquariums... and now I've got them! Thank you..."
